I used to have oily skin but for the past months my skin has been really dry. I have tried most of the liquid makeups but they make my skin flakey. I would like to try mineral makeup but I’m afraid it will destroy my skin.
What mineral makeup is best for dry skin?

mineral makeup wont destroy ur skin.
but mineral makeup isnt for dry skin. it’ll make it noticable, look flakey and loose the glowy factor
i have dry-ish skin and large pores and mineral makeup doesnt look good on me at all
I had this problem. My skin is naturally very oily, so when a few months ago I realized I had flaking skin and very dry patches I was surprised. Usually I’m fighting the oil, not lacking it. Turns out the winter weather was drying my skin out and making my makeup look awful. So I started apply my Clinique Dramatically Different oil free lotion after washing my face at night, then applying some Aveeno lotion to the dry patches. In the morning I did the same thing after washing before applying makeup and soon the problem was solved. Your skin will repair itself but you need to help it retain its moisture after you shower at night so it can heal.
Never apply any powder to a dry face, it wil dry you out even more and it won’t stick well. Always moisturize evenly before applying foundation, powder or any makeup. I’m sure you will see the results you want.
first, if you are using good quality mineral makeup, then it wont destroy your skin. Those drugstore mineral makeups such as maybelline’s mineral power, they contain talc which is harmful for your skin. so If you are not allergic to bismuyth oxide, then dont use bare minerals, because they will make your face itchy, which happened to me and lots of other people, too. So, i would recommend everyday minerals, because it give really good coverage and doesnt dry your skin out. it has formulas for your skin type. there are neutral, matte, semi matte, original glow, and intensive(full coverage). I am using everyday minerals and i love it. i have blemishes and it covers it amazingly.
i hope i helped. : ) xoxo
mineral makeup will definatly not destroy your skin; it’s good for skin, but mineral makeup is a very sheer, loose powder, and it’s NOT for dry skin. It’s for people who have oily skin. Liquid and creme foundations make skin look flakey (i’m sure you’re aware), and the only way to deal with dry skin is to use an oil free moisturizer and then foundation primer. It’ll smooth out everything. Use a silicone based one (try smashbox photofinish, or sephora brand primer, the heavier ones are better for dry skin), and apply all over skin. You’ll find little balls of dried up skin, simply sweep them off your face. Reapply a very thin layer if/where needed. For foundation, use a cream-like compact powder. Try Sephora Brand ones (sephora brand sells heavier, cream based stuff), or if you want mineral makeup, use ones in a compact form. The only pressed mineral powder I’ve found is the one by laura mercier. Apply with a kabuki brush in circular motions, and use the liquid foundation you have only as a concealer.
i think the best is to moisturize your skin really well & when you put on mineral, it wont look all flaky & nasty. i think its like that with ALL minerals. make sure your face is prep.
but i use MAC & it has great coverage..
mineral makeup is best for dry, and sensitive skin because it does not have as much chemicals as non mineral makeup
All mineral makeup is not the same. It depends on the ingredients as to if it’s suitable for dry skin or not.
Like if it has kaolin clay in it….don’t get it. Kaolin absorbs oil and will dry you out if you have dry skin.
I use the Hollywood formula from LA Minerals. It has silk powder in it which helps retain your skins moisture.
